Decorating for Thanksgiving is in full swing over here. My parents are coming in soon and we always have an early Thanksgiving. We also end up having Thanksgiving on the day too. So we end up with 2 Thanksgivings. No one complains!
This weekend I wanted to spruce up my decor and I made this Give Thanks wooden sign to hang under my fantle (fake mantle).
It was really easy and you can make your own easily!
Craft Plywood (found at my local craft shop)
Wood Stain – I used:
Gold Paint – I used Martha Stewart Living Golden Pearl Specialty Paint
Cream Paint – I used:
Circle Foam Brushes
First – Download the designs. They look like this.
In the design studio I un-grouped the laurel and separated them so they would cut out in two pieces.
Prep your board. Sand it and stain it. I let mine dry overnight.
Usually I would of done the stencil in vinyl. However, it just wasn’t working for me that day. See it all balled up in the corner of the first pic? Yes. I was having a bad day with vinyl. So I used card stock instead. The yellow part is vinyl so it was done half in card stock half in vinyl. I carefully pounced the gold on the wood.
I used Martha Stewart Porcelain Doll for my laurel.
The confetti was an after thought but I love it! I just placed some glue around my board and added my confetti. Done!
The board is so light that I was able to hang it up with two Velcro command strips.
See how the confetti shines!
I love how it turned out! Have you tried any Thanksgiving art? I would love to see it!!
